Reclaiming Choice and Agency: Developing an inner sense of measurement in a complex world
May 16 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Everyday we are faced with countless decisions that illuminate our connection with our immediate environment and the world at large.
This is especially relevant if you care about people and the planet and want to contribute to positive change. Where do I start? And how can I relate as an individual to issues such as the climate crisis or war – without losing myself in the process? In these moments it may feel difficult to make the ‘right’ choice or that our choices are insignificant.
Yet there is also another side to the equation: we are not passive consumers or bystanders in the course of history. There is choice and agency everywhere. And in a networked world, there is nothing that matters more than what you do, not only for you and your immediate environment, but also for the world at large.
What you do, in turn, is deeply embedded in the choices you make, as your choices shape your orientation toward life. As we reclaim our sense of choice, we inhabit more of our agency, which in turn enables us to have a greater impact.
The workshop will focus on choice as a practice and capacity, namely to strengthen an inner sense of measurement to attune to myself and the world. Over 90 minutes you will learn:
- About the difference between choices and decisions, and why awareness of choice matters – as a (fundamental) way to engage with life.
- Different levels of networks & systems and how to navigate the levels with agency.
- How to choose with your whole being – as a means to align your deeper values and actions.
- Exercises and prompts to practice choice as a capacity
This workshop is for you whether you are already active in the field of social change or innovation, or just curious about the topic, and seek to explore how your own conscious choices can serve as inner guidance.
