Food Culture Collective: Story Workshop
November 14 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Inspire action and seed cultural transformation through storytelling.
When we’re faced with a story,
we are wired as a species to
respond. To act. We need to be
invited into the lives of others.
// Khaled Hosseini
WORKSHOP FLOW
Week 1: Group Story Workshop Session – Thursday, Nov. 14th, 2024, 10am PT, 120 minutes
In the first workshop session, participants will meet fellow storytellers, get familiar with Food Culture Collective’s facilitation process, and begin to unearth and explore elements of their 5-10 minute story through guided prompts, and solo and group reflection.
(OPTIONAL) Between Sessions: 1-on-1 Story Facilitation
Participants can opt into being paired with an FCCLTV-trained facilitator to guide them through the storytelling process. Between group workshop sessions, facilitators will meet with participants 1-on-1 to explore their personal connections, memories, and stories to help them craft a 5-10 minute story to share with the group.
Week 2: Group Story Sharing Session Part 2 – Thursday, Nov. 21st, 2024, 10am PT, 120 minutes
The second and final workshop session offers participants an opportunity to share their stories with the group and connect with fellow participants through reflection and generous listening. We believe storytelling is a reciprocal experience, and all participants are expected to be fully present to offer a supportive experience for all storytellers.
Note: Registration for this lab automatically includes both sessions.

About Food Culture Collective
Food Culture Collective is a community growing our cultural capacity for food and climate justice through cultural foodways, story, and media arts. We are food workers, culture-bearers, creatives, and co-conspirators who dare to dream of a future where our economies and cultures are shaped by care for the land, waters, and people to which we belong.
Our community is united by a belief that food is culture and foundational to nourishing the systems, values, narratives, and everyday behaviors that shape our world. We use story, art, and experiences to disrupt a culture of extraction and exploitation and collectively reclaim and reimagine our relationships to food.
