Putting Design Into Practice for Social Impact
September 13 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
ACHIEVE GREATER IMPACT WITH INTEGRATIVE DESIGN
Your work is making change in people’s lives and the world. Often this requires that you navigate complex systems and work on ambiguous challenges with limited resources. We will introduce and guide social sector practitioners through the process of integrating practices of human-centered design, systems thinking, equity, and strategy in order to have greater impact. Join us for this e-certification program with other leaders and practitioners.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This workshop introduces design practices that have been developed for the unique needs of those leading or making change in the social sector. The workshop blends the following four essential practices that will help you navigate your work:
Human-Centered Design centers people’s experiences, behaviors, beliefs, and needs as your guide.
Systems Thinking explores the relationships and forces that affect the challenge.
Strategy hones your goals and develops the path to reach them.
Equity engages an intention around power, bias, and identity.
We have combined these practices and worked to make them complementary and accessible. We call it Integrative Design because we believe the integration of these practices makes for more effective design work.
This course has been built on a decade of teaching hundreds of social sector leaders across the world through the d.school’s Designing for Social Systems program.
