Being part of the Network Weaving Learning series in the Q community was a transformative experience, highlighting the often-overlooked art of effective networking. We commonly find ourselves in so-called “networks” that are more like meetings with little investment in fostering genuine connections. This realization was a wake-up call for me, as I had frequently seen such setups circling around intentions without tangible progress. Thankfully, I’ve had the privilege to connect with inspiring individuals and facilitate the Network Weaving Group in Q. Collaborating beyond Q, I’ve shared insights to help others develop their networks and leadership skills. This journey led to co-designing a reflective log for network participants, available for free download, to encourage thoughtful engagement in networking.   In my continuous quest to address mental and emotional health, and promote kindness to ourselves, each other, and the planet, the network weaving approach has been instrumental. Recently, I’ve collaborated with diverse colleagues and individuals with lived experiences in Mid Argyll, Kintyre, and the Islands in Scotland, weaving together existing initiatives and identifying new collaborative opportunities. Since beginning these connections in April 2025, we’ve established a dedicated space for valuable member-shared information.

Utilizing the Jigsaw Lid engagement toolkit, initially developed for primary care transformation and now adapted across settings, we’ve identified key concerns of network members and created new resources:

If you are free then perhaps consider joining us on February 18th, from 12-1 PM (GMT), for an active learning session where we will share our Network Weaving Journey with MAKI and how this learning is being shared in other networks. You’re welcome to register and participate.  As a dedicated Network Weaver, I am eager to connect. Feel free to reach out at [email protected]. Together, we make a positive difference for ourselves, each other and the planet.

My background is in social sciences and mental health nursing with ongoing learning in training and development, community engagement, co design and production, network weaving, liberating structures and communities of practice. My personal mission has been to work with others to find new and better ways to help promote mental wellbeing and to enable people to suffer less as while pain sadly can be inevitable there are things we can do where it does not need to hurt as much. I believe it’s about listening to each other, hearing different perspectives that we can find ways together to build that kinder, fairer world we need to see. I convene a Network Weavers group space within the Q community where I first attended a Network Weaving Learning series after which and with June’s permission we curated a suite of resources to support people’s roles within their networks, inspired by the orginial Network Weavers Handbook, I am always keen to connect with others who want to find ways where we can work together, so please feel free to email me [email protected]
